The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred yesterday, Wednesday (April 19, 2023) in the 5400 block of North Galvez Street that left one person dead.   

At about 2:08 a.m., NOPD Fifth District officers responded to a vehicle accident at the location. Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male subject unresponsive inside a vehicle who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.   

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. Therefore, no additional details are currently available. 

  The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
